Doctor Who - The High Council, Episode 30

A new story and new High Council members this week! Join Josh and his guests Felicity Brown and Jeff Elston as we dive into the Pertwee classic “The Daemons”. Enjoy discussions of 1970’s fashion, ChronoDot technology, the DVD valued-added-material while imagining Ms. Hawthorne’s voice in our heads. An existential vicar indeed! Is Bok a gargoyle or a grotesque?  But will Professor Horner pull out his plum and be super?

This week on Doctor Who - The LOW Council....Harrison Chase closes the door behind them, but Josh, Warren, Sean and Steve roll on with Episode 6 of Giant Green Axon of Doom.  Will Major Beresford get his teeth fixed?  Will Sean eat something crunchy?  Will we sing like John Levene?  If you don't want to hear about man-mounds, balls, or planks...perhaps you should skip this one.  We are in the garden.  We are PART of the garden.

We event a code word for this podcast:  Operation Nuthouse.  We also celebrate Sean's 40th birthday and the extraordinary changes that occur at that age by clicking play on Episode 5 of Seeds of Doom.  Join Warren, Steve, Sean and Josh as we do a bunch of really bad impressions and learn how to make a Molotov Cocktail.

Sean is drunk, Josh is observing green belly buttons, Steve is Mel Bush and Warren has a glass of wine to upset Harrison Chase.

While we wax lyrical about other Doctor Who episodes, we consider 70's fashion and that our villain is mostly afraid of collection attorneys. Are we all so afraid that we are going hide in our glory holes?  Will Warren lose his will to live?  Will be figure out what a Guinnea is?  Check out the episode to find out!

The Doctor Chester Adventures continues with maybe one of the best Doctor Who episodes of all time.  Join Josh, Warren, Sean and Steve as we dive into Seeds of Doom Part 3 which takes us back to England, the house that may or may not have been in Pyramids of Mars and Amelia Ducat.  Perhaps we will have cloth eyes, but more likely we will play all day in our green cathedral and enjoy the Floriana Requiem dedicated to Lineaus.  This episode also contains one of the best cliffhangers of all time - so enjoy the part leading up to that!

You would think that butter wouldn't melt in the mouths of Josh, Warren, Sean and Steve as they embark on the anxiousness that is Episode 2 of The Seeds of Doom.  Are their Mexican cleaning lady in the Antarctic?

The TARDIS Tavern boys Sean and Steve join Josh and frequent guest Warren to embark on one of the best Doctor Who stories of all time and Tom Baker classic - Seeds of Doom.

Tom Baker is angry, he's funny, he's likely drunk - but it represents some the best Doctor Who ever made.  Policemen do travel in pairs, Liz Sladen thinks of Tom Baker everytime she thinks of vomit, and YES, it's real snow.  So, let's take this episode into custody and put it in the freezer.

Well, it's come to this.  The final episode of Enemy of the World.  A first for the podcast, and everyone is tired - but we plow through!  We discuss clashing clothing, Eric forgetting he watched this, what glasses are, and look where we've become!!!  Oh, and Kyle swears.  Once.

Enjoy this and much else here:

Nov 2, 2015

For the first time in Doctor Who - The High Council history, we embark in a Part 5 of a story.   Josh is beginning to lose it, but Eric, Kyle and Steven keep it rolling.  Want to know who Bob Anderson is?  You will learn it here...now.  We learned a little more about Carmen Munroe OBE and Eric's keyboard.  Perhaps we talk a little about Enemy of the World. If you choose Leggs Eggs or Grape Ape as the words of the day, you have won.  Congratulations.

Enjoy the irreverant banter!

In a discussion that revolved mostly around Benik's hair (Milton Johns), we fit in just a little bit of discussion of the actual episode itself.  Join Josh, Eric, Kyle and Steven as we press on with Episode 4 of Enemy of the World and no, Cyril Shaps is not in this one.

Do you like listening to these cats?  Try this!

Doctor Who - Prognosis Negative

Oct 19, 2015

It's the episode that introduced to Enemy of the World and made us think it was boring.  An episode that spends most of its time in a kitchen peeling spuds and Victoria's desserts.  Join Josh, Eric, Kyle and Steven as we consider thinking about flirting with Mary Peach, the grandma's wallpaper used in the hallway, and a cook named Griff.

Oct 12, 2015

Can The Doctor quickly take on Salamander's strange accent?  While Josh, Eric, Kyle, and Steven debate what part of Mexico Salamander comes from, Steven does his best Derek Deadman impression - which is worth the listen on its own.

But moreover, some Episode 2 goodness while we tiptoe around several potential podcast landmines.  Enjoy!

And why not enjoy some Doctor Who - Prognosis Negative

Oct 5, 2015

Josh is joined by his Doctor Who: Prognosis Negative, Shaken Not Stirred compadres Eric, Kyle and Steven as they embark on the Patrick Troughton classic that was found very recently and is SIX PARTS!  While we enjoy this story, the drinking game for this story is how many James Bond references can we make?  So join us with a malted beverage, some replaceable plates and glasses in your detension hallways and remember to have your poison tester try everything before you drink it.

In a special LI Who-themed bumper episode of The High Council, Josh is joined by Ken Deep and Andre Tessier to talk over the perhaps underrated, but likely rated perfectly - The King's Demons.  But perhaps more importantly, the 3rd LI Who Convention taking place Nov 13-15, 2015.  In fact, Ken announces the dates for LI Who 4 in 2016!!

Please join the medieval misfits, drink every time Tegan gets a line, and play chess on Lady Isabella's outfit.  Moreover, check out LI Who (in the below links)!

Doctor Who - The High Council Episode 16

The Robot Revolution has begun! Will Uvanov jump into The Doctor's arms?  Will D84 survive?  Is there a mouse in the wainscoting and does it squeak?  Will Toby make a reference to The War Games?  Count on it.

Join Josh, Toby and Andrew as we enjoy the exciting conclusion to The Trousers of Dask (or Robots of Doom).

Doctor Who - The High Council Episode 15

Dask saves the day, but his trousers tell a different story.  Andrew shows how much homework he's done on the story and Toby and Josh are learning a lot.  But Part 3 introduces us to Grimwade's Syndrome, D84's ability to talk, Tom Baker's eyes and a handy tool that removes all the crystals from a snowflake.  Hopefully no one throws hands at us.

Will the Doctor drown in cork?  Where is the real cliffhanger?  What is Toby Hadoke's favourite scene in Doctor Who history?  Which Doctor Who mug is Andrew Smith using today?  Are we the perfect example of the inverse ratio of the size of the mouth and the size of the brain?  Join Toby, Andrew and Josh as they continue their journey through Robots of Death with Part 2 - and Dask's trousers.

Doctor Who - The High Council Episode 12

We have rather simple math problems and floating Axon heads as Deb, Liz and Josh embark on the final episode of Claws of Axos.

Will the Doctor betray his friends?  Should the show instead be called Master Who?  Can we stop it?   Can we describe a time loop without doing all of the Pertweeisms?  Tune into a bumper-episode of The High Council and enjoy!!!

Doctor Who - The High Council, Episode 11

"Can we stop it?"  While Bill Filer provides most of his dialogue in this episode during a coma, the High Council members Josh, Deb and Liz decide whether the Brig's leather gloves or Jo's knickers should rate higher in importance.  Will Benton ever catch the Master in his crappy mask?  Will the Doctor give up Megga K to the Axons?  Will Bill Filer's chest hair save the day?  You will only know by listening to Part 3!

Join Josh, Deb and Liz to continue the Claws of Axos journey into Episode 2.  Can they contain themselves with all of this Filer on Filer action?  Is purple the best color for Jo's boots?  Is Pertwee's hair and outfit foreshawdowing Capaldi?  Is that a Polyp?

All these questions and more will be answered on the High Council Episode 10!

Doctor Who - The High Council Episode 9

A new story and new High Council Members!  This week, two Doctor Who luminaries Deb Stanish and Liz Myles join Josh on a journey through the middle of Season 8 to meet Chin's chins and Filer's sideburns in episode 1 of the Pertwee classic Claws of Axos.  Beware of spoilers and organic spaceships that resemble body parts and join the hilarity that can not be stopped and can barely be contained.

This week we talk a lot about the physics of airplane gear tyres, Doctor Who Monthly #65 and a very very special guest joins us for Time-Flight Part 4.  We debate temporal limiters, Tegan's ability to be an actual stewardess, the bird that flies by the Concorde as it takes off in pre-historic England, and whether Neil chooses chicken or beef.

Join Josh, Neil, John, and Simon to finish Season 19 of Doctor Who with a bang!

Doctor Who - The High Council Episode 7

"This is the exact moment where Peter Davison decided to leave Doctor Who"

Time-Flight Part 3 lags to the point where the guys begin discussing other more memorable Doctor Who.  It is clear here that the padding is starting to drive Josh, John, Neil and Simon to further antics.  What is that Xeriphin thing in the middle?  Why don't the passengers relax and take a load off?  Why does someone keep disconnecting the Master's router?  Take two Anadin (or Anacin in the States) and call us in the morning.
