Doctor Who - The High Council Episode 43, Curse of Fenric Part 3

Ian Briggs, Nicholas Briggs or Nicholas Mallet? Let me rephrase the question. We have faith in each other but have no idea what the Doctor has faith in. What is up with Sorin’s scarf and should we have faith in that? But if they mention inhuman again, Josh may throw something through the computer screen and his rifle is cocked. Is it weird that both Ace’s grandfather is named Frank and also died in a fire? Mind blown. Ace is not a little girl anymore and her distraction is the strangest bit of dialogue in all of Doctor Who history. Onto Episode 3 kids – it’s over the top, strange, filled with over-exaggerated metaphors. Enjoy the banter! After all, it’s raining men. Hallalujah.

Doctor Who - The High Council Episode 42, Curse of Fenric Part 2

What’s going on? Secret passage ways? Watching Nicholas Parsons practicing a sermon, Chris, Kat and Josh debate why the Russians and the British are enemies in World War Two or perhaps AFTER World War Two.   What does that pile of fake bombs really look like? Josh finally got that they were going to provide the computer to the Russians and it contains the poison! Mind blown.   Flasks, chess sets, bones in a desert, recurring themes, scribbles in a wall, and a confusing set of events leads to Ace being a genius. Take me to the decrypt room!!

Doctor Who - The High Council Episode 41, Curse of Fenric Part 1

We’re back! With new High Council Members Chris from Radio Free Skaro and Doctor Who – Mostly Harmless Cutaway and Katrina from Verity. This week we begin a story from Josh’s favorite era The McCoy Era! Is it a Curse? Is it Fenric? What was that thing? Does the Target novelization provide a long Milligan and Judson wedding scene that we don’t see in the show? Join us as we take apart the first part of the Curse of Fenric and find the good, bad and the ugly.   We take quizzes in Cosmo together and realize that only a few of us really understand what is happening.

Doctor Who - The High Council, Episode 40

Happy Valentines Day – or Happy Gally Day as we listen to a ypnotic pulse throbbing as we start Episode 6 of Frontier in Space. Join Josh, Warren, Steven, Kyle and Eric. We learned that Jo is afraid of Drashigs, Mutants, and Sea Devils. Is Orson Wells in this cashing a check? Are baseball/basketball shoes currently in fashion?  Have the ships cockpits been redressed again or is it different? Doctor Who was his name? Are we going to see a testicle monster? Do we see an early Misos triangle?   Get the answer to this and other questions as we complete Frontier in Space. And no, we never take anything out of context.

Our life at your command! Now we present Episode 5 of Frontier in Space, we are committed to exactly 24 minutes of commentary on Doctor Who. Join Josh, Warren, Steven, Kyle and Eric as we ascend to the Draconian ballroom. Strange illusions to original Cybermen, that blue android from Timelash, and Ogrons from Soho. So after a very speedy female emancipation in the Draconian empire, Jo is now allowed to speak again. Please enjoy references to 60s and 70s television shows as well. This episode of the High Council is Space Bananas! (with no complications)

In an episode of Doctor Who that clearly name checks the Podcast, and name checks itself, Josh, Warren, Steven, Kyle and Eric have joined the Master and we’re back in jail again. Why are we talking about Guy Fawkes? An entire episode of aborted space walks, a Jo Grant 20 minute soliloquy, and a very ill-timed course correction. We are clearly magazine-smart and can manage to provide guidance to our dear listeners on the concept of space travel, what the Master meant when he said “We’ll let you know, Ms. Grant” and what separates this from the Star Wars universe. Wow, that was a clever and rather abrupt cliffhanger. Enjoy!

As we start episode 3 of Frontier in Space, we are down to our first names: Josh, Warren, Steven, Kyle and Eric. How exactly do you make a mind probe anyway?   How is it that they are watching Doctor Who ON DOCTOR WHO?!? Were Katy Manning and Jon Pertwee fans of each other? He said penal colony. Giggle. More newscasts, more incarceration and THE MASTER!

Well, it’s time for episode 2 of Frontier in Space and all we can talk about is Worzel Gummidge and Mrs. King. How many times are The Doctor and Jo going to be incarcerated? Is it the mind probe or the mime probe? Brine robe? Do we talk about Star Wars more than Doctor Who? Who is the Kramer Ogron? When you get to your episode selection screen – PRESS IT.

A new week, a new story and new set of High Council members! Join Josh, Warren, Kyle, Steven and Eric as we lead ourselves into a new Frontier. A Frontier in Space! And a Frontier of girlie posters in a cockpit! Can we determine what year it is based on Pertwee’s bouffant? Is everyone wearing great clothes in the future? Is the news just as boring in the future? Danger! Bulk Flour! Find out in Episode 1…and yes, this was recorded prior to Husbands of River Song.

Well, it’s come down to this – Episode 5 of The Daemons. Join Josh, Felicity and Jeff as we embark on the controversial ending to this classic story. Lots of discussion of Bewitched and I Dream of Jeannie but we all bow down to the “Five rounds rapid” line. But we do go through the list of Doctor Who episodes where someone spits. Are we happy with the ending? Perhaps the episode has “gone-west” – you be the judge.

Jan 18, 2016

This episode of Doctor Who – The High Council smells to me of failure, just like what the Daemon feels of the human race and we don’t suffer witches to live! As we embark on episode 4, the question of whether Josh is wearing panty hose has been posed. Felicity and Jeff will never know unfortunately for them. How many times has Jo had a concussion? What are the Morris Dancers? Join us as we unpack ourselves from our sacrificial gift-wrapping. Weather cock! Now!

Jan 11, 2016

As Part 3 begins, Josh, Felicity and Jeff are padding the grocery bills, cooking the books at the post office, and our spouses have not come back from our sister’s.

But we do learn that powerful creatures in human history have horns, and that Benton has no value in most of the scenes he’s in. We discuss the inverse ratio of the size of Winstanley’s head against the size of his tie. There’s a man possessed who flies a helicopter, Jo prepares for her coma-talking scene by getting thrown out of a car, and all we can discuss how Doctor Who fans create their own head-canon. Will the Master survive? Do we care?

Jan 4, 2016

In episode 2, Felicity, Jeff and Josh see something devilish: John Levene’s acting for one. We learn what a Verger is and there is a fair amount of singing. How does the devil make something extremely cold? Is Jo wearing a pantsuit? Is Mike Yates wearing a pantsuit? How many Doctor Who DVD’s does Felicity own? You will find out – so listen now before we attack you with our reticule.

Doctor Who - The High Council, Episode 30

A new story and new High Council members this week! Join Josh and his guests Felicity Brown and Jeff Elston as we dive into the Pertwee classic “The Daemons”. Enjoy discussions of 1970’s fashion, ChronoDot technology, the DVD valued-added-material while imagining Ms. Hawthorne’s voice in our heads. An existential vicar indeed! Is Bok a gargoyle or a grotesque?  But will Professor Horner pull out his plum and be super?

Dec 21, 2015

This week on Doctor Who - The LOW Council....Harrison Chase closes the door behind them, but Josh, Warren, Sean and Steve roll on with Episode 6 of Giant Green Axon of Doom.  Will Major Beresford get his teeth fixed?  Will Sean eat something crunchy?  Will we sing like John Levene?  If you don't want to hear about man-mounds, balls, or planks...perhaps you should skip this one.  We are in the garden.  We are PART of the garden.

We event a code word for this podcast:  Operation Nuthouse.  We also celebrate Sean's 40th birthday and the extraordinary changes that occur at that age by clicking play on Episode 5 of Seeds of Doom.  Join Warren, Steve, Sean and Josh as we do a bunch of really bad impressions and learn how to make a Molotov Cocktail.

Sean is drunk, Josh is observing green belly buttons, Steve is Mel Bush and Warren has a glass of wine to upset Harrison Chase.

While we wax lyrical about other Doctor Who episodes, we consider 70's fashion and that our villain is mostly afraid of collection attorneys. Are we all so afraid that we are going hide in our glory holes?  Will Warren lose his will to live?  Will be figure out what a Guinnea is?  Check out the episode to find out!

The Doctor Chester Adventures continues with maybe one of the best Doctor Who episodes of all time.  Join Josh, Warren, Sean and Steve as we dive into Seeds of Doom Part 3 which takes us back to England, the house that may or may not have been in Pyramids of Mars and Amelia Ducat.  Perhaps we will have cloth eyes, but more likely we will play all day in our green cathedral and enjoy the Floriana Requiem dedicated to Lineaus.  This episode also contains one of the best cliffhangers of all time - so enjoy the part leading up to that!

You would think that butter wouldn't melt in the mouths of Josh, Warren, Sean and Steve as they embark on the anxiousness that is Episode 2 of The Seeds of Doom.  Are their Mexican cleaning lady in the Antarctic?

The TARDIS Tavern boys Sean and Steve join Josh and frequent guest Warren to embark on one of the best Doctor Who stories of all time and Tom Baker classic - Seeds of Doom.

Tom Baker is angry, he's funny, he's likely drunk - but it represents some the best Doctor Who ever made.  Policemen do travel in pairs, Liz Sladen thinks of Tom Baker everytime she thinks of vomit, and YES, it's real snow.  So, let's take this episode into custody and put it in the freezer.

Well, it's come to this.  The final episode of Enemy of the World.  A first for the podcast, and everyone is tired - but we plow through!  We discuss clashing clothing, Eric forgetting he watched this, what glasses are, and look where we've become!!!  Oh, and Kyle swears.  Once.

Enjoy this and much else here:

Nov 2, 2015

For the first time in Doctor Who - The High Council history, we embark in a Part 5 of a story.   Josh is beginning to lose it, but Eric, Kyle and Steven keep it rolling.  Want to know who Bob Anderson is?  You will learn it here...now.  We learned a little more about Carmen Munroe OBE and Eric's keyboard.  Perhaps we talk a little about Enemy of the World. If you choose Leggs Eggs or Grape Ape as the words of the day, you have won.  Congratulations.

Enjoy the irreverant banter!

Oct 26, 2015

In a discussion that revolved mostly around Benik's hair (Milton Johns), we fit in just a little bit of discussion of the actual episode itself.  Join Josh, Eric, Kyle and Steven as we press on with Episode 4 of Enemy of the World and no, Cyril Shaps is not in this one.

Do you like listening to these cats?  Try this!

Doctor Who - Prognosis Negative

Oct 19, 2015

It's the episode that introduced to Enemy of the World and made us think it was boring.  An episode that spends most of its time in a kitchen peeling spuds and Victoria's desserts.  Join Josh, Eric, Kyle and Steven as we consider thinking about flirting with Mary Peach, the grandma's wallpaper used in the hallway, and a cook named Griff.

Oct 12, 2015

Can The Doctor quickly take on Salamander's strange accent?  While Josh, Eric, Kyle, and Steven debate what part of Mexico Salamander comes from, Steven does his best Derek Deadman impression - which is worth the listen on its own.

But moreover, some Episode 2 goodness while we tiptoe around several potential podcast landmines.  Enjoy!

And why not enjoy some Doctor Who - Prognosis Negative
